Latest on the Devon tour

(January 28, 2012)

Budliegh Salterton CCBudleigh Salterton

Ten confirmed and paid: Vanstone, S and J.Hodgson, Gee, W.Hasler, M.Glover, Robinson, A.Reeves, Llewellyn and Armstrong.
Four probables but haven't paid: P.Bowen-Davies, C.Pulling, Charnaud and M.Goring
Possibles: C/J Reeves, B.Hasler
Possible part-timers: Millers *4, Tim Monday (ringer) and JEM

Tourists are asked to state now if they are coming for the duration and if not, which days they plan to come. If there are any other members who wish to tour, tell them to get in touch. Tour will be cancelled or will go ahead following the "romantic" committee meeting on Valentine's Day

The Committee has taken the decision to reduce the tour to three days. Tour detail: Saturday 14th to Monday 16th July inclusive. The tourists will depart early from West Chiltington Village Hall at 06:30 on the Saturday (due to it being mid July and the roads to Devon will be busy) and are likely to arrive back home in the small hours on Tuesday 17th July following abig game at Budleight Salterton on the Monday. The majority of tourists and kit will be transported in two minibuses but we will certainly need other cars to assist us in transportation. We will hopefully be using the Rydon and Pulboro RFC minibuses to reduce the number of cars we need to take although this has yet to be confimed

We have reserved accommodation (triples/doubles/single rooms) at the very exotic Exeter Court Hotel for up to 18 people. This hotel is located SW of Exeter
. For the youngsters, Mr Bradley Vanstone has a house in the city centre and a bottle or two will suffice to get you a place in the pad. Remember, accommodation will be allocated once exact numbers are known.

Re colts' participation, U15s and above will be welcome providing they are accompanied by a parent who will be responsible for them at all times especially in the evenings. Adult game experience will be a necessity which many of this age range have. It is very likely that there will be few children touring - parents and the relevant colts should be aware of this before committing their child to the tour.
U16s will have finished GCSEs and U18s, if they are still at school, should have finished A2s; however although U17s still at school will be post AS Levels, they are required back at school to start on A2 syllabus; U15s will also still be in class. Teachers such as the Pullings will also be still working.

As a rough guide, the tour will set you back £180 in accommodation, fuel and match fees per person (adults and colts) before any drink or food has been purchased. If you do wish to tour and have trouble with these timescales due to Christmas overspending, please contact Will (w.hasler@sky.com) in the first instance. For those crediting the Club account via internet / telephone banking, our account number and sort code can be supplied. Please again contact Will for this. To assist the Club Treasurer, please do state "TOUR" followed by your surname in the comments field.

Parents/supporters and non members may also indicate their willingness to join the tour by forwarding this e-mail to Will with any suitable detail e.g. ability to umpire, score, wish to play if there's room, want to just come along and have some fun. The tour costs will be similar but there will be no need to submit a deposit unless you are playing. Non-member cricketers may be very useful but priority will go to fully paid up club members.

Please commit as soon as you can and follow news on the proposed tour on our Facebook page.
