Extensive report from the eight-a-side tournament down by the sea from Aimee-Louise Scott
The weather was more like September rugby time with the sea wind in our hair! The day was a long one & we just got home before dark. The boys were a great example to the Club & I believe all had a good day. All participated batting & bowling to the best of their ability.
The first game was against Findon. Although we lost, they kept together & won the next two games against Broadwater & the hosts, Chippingdale. As a result we made it through to the final!
The final itself was against the mighty Worthing who were a tight team but West Chiltington kept our cool and batted well. Our fielding was also very tight and quite collected but unfortunately Worthing showed their class and won by 32 runs (by the time we finished, it was nearly dark & very cold!). Despite defeat, the team were in good spirits & it was a very successfully day. Thank you to all parents and players (especially Alfie Reeves who played very well in the team with the boys even though he was Under 10 and had never played with the team). Thank you also to Shaun Tavares for managing the team and all parents help & support.
Well done to: Captain Alexander Scott, Vice Captain George Lee plus Sam Fisher, Charlie Treasure, Charlie Williams, Crispin Tavares, Alfie Reeves and Gatsby Fitzgerald.
