We are seriously lacking in pictures which don't feature this year's Under 14s and Under 16s! If you wish to see yourself on the website after another fine performance on the field, please e-mail (jpg file)
Under 13s get their first (and the Club's first) WIN of the season at Broadbridge Heath in the Under 14s IDL League. WC&T 113-1 (RCP 28*, Peck 26*), BBH 86-6 (RCP 3-8).
A tremendous start to the season for the Jeffries boys and their proteges. Here's a report from a beaming Biggles Jeffries:
A stunning morning at BBH for the U13's first match of the season. Chilt lost the toss & were put into bat. Gabriel Peck & Capt Reece C-P made a swift start racing to 50 runs off the first 7 overs. Gabriel, took a few overs to 'get going' & retired on 26 after a fine display of batting. Reece C-P a solid captain's innings of 28, also retired. No's 4 & 5, Will Jeffries (14*) & Ollie Salkeld (16*) kept the runs coming, in the last few overs, giving Chilt a very respectable score of 113 for the loss of just one wicket off 20 overs. Chilt took to the field in a buoyant mood. Alex Scott (U11's !!) performed superbly in the field, assisted by older brother Ollie Scott - 1 for 5 off 2 overs. Sadly a few catches put down in the field (you know who you are !!), but thankfully safe hands from Josh Steggles. Reece C-P bowled very economically ending with 3 for 8 off his 4 overs. In general a very good fielding performance by the team, notably George, Wes & Alex. A great team performance & a well deserved first victory of 2010. Scorecard

The 1sts DREW away at Newdigate against their 1sts. A great performance from another youthful 1st XI side over the border in Surrey. The hosts batted first and made a respectable 219 in a timed game. The two young Bens claiming six wickets between them. In reply, chasing again like last week (but this time missing our talismanic captain), we were hanging on when the overs ran out for the hosts. Many of the colts who played will have grabbed some really good experience for the coming season. The opposition appeared to contain some high quality players so perhaps a stiffer ask this week especially for the yoof. Highlights were:
- Captain for the day, Chaloner's 87* which was comfortably our highest score
- Tolson's dogged and determined 20 odd supporting his captain
- Ben Hasler's bowling & batting
- Ben Miller's bowling
- Wyatt's catching
We also welcomed Greg Upton to the side and the Club - a big money signing from Pulborough over the close season. The league starts next week and hopefully the absent Armstrong can locate some experience so the average age of the side is increased. Scorecard Newdigate Report

Sunday 25th April
2nd XI LOST at Goodwood. Good 166-5dec (Hodgson 3-38); WC&T 102 a/o (Llewellyn 33, Upton 19) Report: What a place to kick off the 2nd XI season! In the wonderful setting of Goodwood Park, we kicked off the season somewhat disappointingly with a fairly fragile performance - going down to a 64 run defeat to a team of similar standard but better application on the day. The new boys; Joe Charnaud (debut) and Greg Upton opened the bowling and impressed with economical and probing spells - though extremely unluckily as the openers survived at a modest rate - particularly Joe, who suffered 4 drops off his bowling before finally striking. Gentleman Stephen bowled a fine spell rewarded with 3-38, and Bob chipped in with a wicket. One over from Sir Peter Jones frightened them into a declaration 166-5. This was a representation of the slow low pitch. A steady start for Chilt was on, and a good 2nd wicket partnership from Jones (18) and Bob Llewellyn (33) took Chilt past 50 and into a good position; however a clatter of wickets to the excellent and wily spin of Goodwood captain Mayne; meant Chilt were never to get anywhere near the target - and only an aggressive 19 from Upton represented resistence. A poor result but a good work out, and a few players will be a little more prepared for the league start next week. Credit to fixtures man Big Bird Hasler for setting a great opposition and great venue. Scorecard
The Sunday side WON at home to West Sussex Wanderers in the second year of this fixture. WC&T 255-6 (C.Pulling 100*), WSW 102 a/o (Tolson 3-9, Gee 3-15). In a 40-over-a-side game, a fine batting performance from a new look Sunday side was the foundation fro a convincing win at the Rec. The West Chilt footballers used the game to warm up for their real league season playing in the Green & Gold of West Chilt & Thakeham CC! A debut ton from Craig Pulling - our first of the season - was the highlight. Craig likes the early season - his previous best of 67 was against Storrington in early May, also for the Sunday side, last summer. Johnny Tolson (who has played in both opening 1st XI fixtures with no success) made quick in-roads into the visitor's batting line up bowling from the Nets' End. James Gee also helped himself to three lower order wickets after a heavy stint of shouting/umpiring was re-charged by a fulsome tea by our centurion. Although the visitors had several colts, it was still a very satisfying day for acting Sunday Captain, Ryan Ashley, who had toiled away with no success opening from the Village Hall End. Scorecard
The Under 12 game at Billingshurst was postponed due to many of our lads (and the coach) being on a rugby tour
