We won the toss and invited Southwick to field. Armstrong put down two catches in successive balls as the labours of captaining the 1sts for the first time got to him. A stunner from Foster help steady the teams nerves however but fielding was generally lax on a mid April day. 220 was always going to be a tough ask unless our two best batsmen could stay together - the captain and Windlesham Headmaster's son, Foster. They both put on a ton before both holing out to relatively soft shots close in. After that it was just a matter of time before the hosts clinched victory. If we'd been able to put out a few more 1st XI regulars, the result may have been different but we'll probably be back next year for another pre-season friendly as Southwick were good hosts.
