Annual Dinner 2009 - who won what?

(October 25, 2009)
ONECLUB PRESENTS THE ANNUAL DINNER 2009

The Annual Dinner took place at the Wisborough Green Village Hall on the 17th October 2009.  Special guest stars were the ever-popular Murray Goodwin - who used the occasion to announce he'd just signed on for another two years at Hove to rapturous applause - and the surprise appearance of the Surrey coach, the former - and most successful ever - captain at Hove, Mr Christopher Adams who auctioned 2 bats for Murray's benefit.

Rumour had it that we may be getting a video link to Melbourne or Gaborone but in the end, we had to make do with lots of people in the flesh.

The outgoing chairman's family appeared to win most prizes including the top one of a trip to Paris on the Eurostar with some accommodation thrown in.  His sister Karen won the heads and tails game.

The cricketing prizes of the evening which were handed out again by Muzza were as follows:

1st XI Batsman Of The Year: Mr Brian Chambers
1st XI Bowler Of The Year: Mr Michael Armstrong
2nd XI Batsman Of The Year: Mr Robert Llewellyn (collected by his captain, Martin)
2nd XI Bowler Of The Year: Mr Alan Reeves
Sunday Batsman Of The Year: Mr Robert Llewellyn (collected by Jonathan Denton)
Sunday Bowler Of The Year: Mr Michael Armstrong
Clubmen of The Year: Mr & Mrs Glover - hon mentions to Stephen H and Jim G.
Players Player of The Year:  Mr Martin Glover

Following the presentations, Mr Scott Pulling played some crucial tunes (it says here) and also the dreadful and best forgotten Southern Freeeeeez by Freeeeeez.  No attempt was made to play any Black Sabbath which this author thinks was a bit remiss.

Huge applause and thanks to Mrs Victoria Hodgson and Mrs Tracey Glover for organising the whole schbang and for Mr Stephen Hodgson and Mr Martin Glover for basically doing as they were told.  Honourable mentions to the Under 16s, Tom Nairn, Ellie, Georgia and Megan who were volunteered to hand out the tuck; also to Mr James Gee who does such a wonderful job as a wine waiter.
