NAZEING NOBBLED
Monday: We
BEAT
Nazeing Common
by 7 wickets. NC 146 a/o (J.Hodgson 3-17), WC&T 147-3 (N.Miller 47*).
The dreaded Nazeing hat trick was avoided comfortably (they'd won the two previous encounters) after a fine all round bowling display. Some catches dropped but a good start to the week. The hats and frolics were again in evidence as we braved the monsoon afterwards. We're looking forward to next year already and hope they are too as they're great fun and know where the bar is.

UCKFIELD 'UMBLED
Wednesday: We
BEAT
Uckfield Anderida.
UA 151 a/o & WC&T won by 5 wickets with 3 balls to spare.
"Awesome skippering, ask D. Hardisty. Not usually a big head..." were the alcoholic victory cheers from captain Horatio via text to
OneClub News.
REPORT: A close and edgy game against Uckfield. Having bowled excellently to restrict them to 151 all out in a game reduced to 35 overs per side due a rain delay, Chilt won with just 3 balls to spare after a steady chase led by the Chairman (68) and skipper JD who contributed 29 in support, before Aussie Mick saw us home. Indeed, the game was excellent captained by JD... even if he did get a bit of ribbing from the Chairman...

LINGFIELD OVERCOME
Thursday: We
BEAT
Lingfield by 3 wickets.
Lingfield 181-9, WC&T 182-7
REPORT: Lingfield & Newchapel provided some stern opposition after an early burst from Aussie Mick (3-8 from 6 overs) had the top order reeling. Once they were 5 down after a debut wicket from our new West Indian paceman (!!) Gregory Martin, L&N recovered strongly thanks to stubborn batting from their captain and some accomplished strokes from former Devon player, Matthews before he was foxed by a cunning low full toss from Ward and offered an easy c&b. As Jim Gee would say, "it was planned". Dougie Glynne-Jones returned to restrict the tail and polish off 2 more and L&N ended on a respectable but chaseable 181-7.
Openers Aussie Dave and Ward got Chilt off to a flier in response... well, Dave did... as he smashed the new ball to all parts with a care-free and extremely breezy innings. Ward went with the score on 60, and Llewellyn was involved in a rare `bowled` shocker as he failed to make his customary contribution. The Chairman was back again to provide some steady support to the buccaneering Dave, who eventually perished for a chancy but entertaining 78. A collapse occurred, Mick and the Blogger v2 both receiving ducks (of course, Mick WASN'T out... ), and the Chairman perished soon after to leave the game finally balanced. But enormous credit to Dougie (26no) and Shakey (12no) as they saw Chilt home with 2 overs to spare.
Another excellent game for Cricket Week, and once again a great contribution from the Colts.
